Job description
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled consultant/specialist gastroenterologist to join our leading healthcare facility in the UAE.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in gastroenterology, digestive disorders, hepatology, and diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, with a commitment to providing comprehensive, evidence-based care.
The successful candidate will work closely with general surgeons, colorectal surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nutrition specialists, and other members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive gastroenterology consultations and clinical assessments.
Diagnose and manage a wide range of gastrointestinal, digestive, and liver disorders.
Develop individualized medical and procedural treatment plans based on clinical findings and diagnostic investigations.
Evaluate patients presenting with abdominal pain, chronic diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, reflux, dysphagia, and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
Diagnose and manage conditions including GERD, peptic ulcer disease, gastritis, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and gastrointestinal infections.
Assess and manage patients with gastrointestinal bleeding and other urgent digestive conditions.
Diagnose and manage liver and biliary disorders including fatty liver disease, hepatitis, cirrhosis, and related complications.
Perform or interpret upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (gastroscopy) and colonoscopy where appropriately trained and credentialed.
Perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures within approved clinical privileges.
Perform procedures such as biopsy, polypectomy, hemostasis, and other endoscopic interventions where appropriately trained.
Perform or provide expertise in ERCP and other advanced endoscopic procedures where applicable to clinical expertise.
Review and interpret laboratory investigations, ultrasound, CT, MRI, FibroScan, and other relevant diagnostic studies.
Evaluate patients with suspected gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary malignancies and coordinate appropriate specialist care.
Provide appropriate pre-procedure assessment, informed consent, procedural care, and post-procedure follow-up.
Coordinate multidisciplinary management of complex gastrointestinal and liver conditions.
Provide dietary and lifestyle counseling where appropriate and coordinate nutritional support for patients requiring specialist input.
Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, risks, and expected outcomes clearly to patients and families.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and confidential medical records.
Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement, teaching, and continuing professional development.
Follow applicable UAE healthcare regulations, professional standards, clinical guidelines, infection-control requirements, and facility policies.
