If you are seeking experience as a Winter Audit Intern, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in St. Louis, Missouri, you will perform financial audits and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX 404) control reviews as part of an audit team under the supervision of an Audit Senior to ensure business unit financial statements and controls are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and corporate policies and procedures. Audits are performed using a risk-based, process-focused approach that encompasses business strategy analysis. Internships begin in late-May and end in mid-August with the goal of securing full-time employment as a Staff Auditor upon graduation. Typical career path for a Staff Auditor consists of three years in Internal Audit resulting in a financial or accounting position at Corporate or one of our 50+ business units.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Perform audits using a risk-based, process-focused approach that encompasses business strategy analysis.
  • Report on control deficiencies to management and make recommendations to mitigate risk and add value.
  • Challenge current processes across the company and identify opportunities for refinement.
  • Communicate with a variety of stakeholders across the company.
  • Position consists of approximately 15-25% travel within the United States and potentially international travel.

 

Who You Are:

You should encompass the following qualities: attention to detail; organization and time-keeping skills; the ability to assess and evaluate risk, plus implement solutions; the ability to keep calm under pressure, especially when there are tight deadlines; the ability to think objectively; and strong verbal and written communication skills, as ongoing communication with teams in other business units and senior management will be required.
