Role overview
The successful candidate will provide specialist-level anaesthesiology and perioperative care within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment supported by experienced consultants, nurses, allied health professionals, surgeons, intensivists, and modern operating theatre and critical care infrastructure.
Key responsibilities
Deliver specialist anaesthesia care for elective and emergency surgical procedures across multiple specialties.
Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic assessments, patient risk stratification, and perioperative optimisation.
Provide general, regional, neuraxial, monitored anaesthesia care, and sedation according to clinical expertise, hospital protocols, and approved privileges.
Manage airway emergencies, difficult airway situations, perioperative complications, and post-anaesthesia recovery.
Provide acute pain management and support effective postoperative pain control.
Monitor patients throughout the perioperative period and ensure safe transfer to recovery or appropriate critical care settings.
Collaborate closely with surgeons, intensivists, nurses, operating theatre teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and coordinated patient care.
Support perioperative safety, infection prevention, medication safety, and anaesthesia quality standards.
Participate in clinical governance, morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical audits, quality improvement, and operating theatre service development.
