Overview of the role
The workshop supervisor is responsible for supervising the workshop operations, ensuring maintenance, servicing, and repair activities are conducted efficiently and safely. The role involves the management of a team of technicians and service advisors, supporting the service manager in achieving revenue and gross margin targets. Success in this role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to operate in a high-demand environment.
What you will do
Workshop & operational supervision
Achieve annual labor and parts sales targets.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the truck maintenance workshop.
Allocate work to technicians based on priority and expertise.
Monitor job progress, diagnose delays, and take corrective actions.
Ensure closure and invoicing of all completed jobs.
Technical oversight
Diagnose faults and provide guidance on complex repairs.
Verify and approve repair and service reports, ensuring accuracy.
Conduct quality checks on completed jobs to meet required standards.
Monitor vehicle condition reports and ensure preventative maintenance.
Lead early detection early resolution activities.
People management
Supervise, train, and evaluate workshop staff.
Support continuous improvement and upskilling of the technical team.
Conduct monthly toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Ensure staff productivity over 95% and turnover rate below 5%.
Reporting & communication
Prepare daily and weekly reports on job completion and resource utilization.
Communicate job status, delays, or challenges to the workshop manager.
Support customer service by ensuring minimal truck downtime.
Maintain timelines and accuracy of reports above 90%.
