Due to a significant major project win and ongoing strong workload, we are seeking an accomplished Senior Mechanical Engineer OR Technical Director – HVAC to join our well-respected team in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of complex infrastructure and building services projects.

 

Working alongside industry-leading professionals, you will play a key role in delivering innovative and sustainable mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects, including transport, healthcare, education, defence, data centres, commercial, infrastructure and public sector developments.

 

As a technical leader, you’ll help shape the strategic direction and continued growth of our building services’ engineering capability. You’ll bring a strong commercial mindset, established client relationships and a genuine passion for developing high-performing teams, while identifying and realising new opportunities.

This diverse and exciting role will see you working on:

  • Providing technical leadership, strategic advice and resource coordination across a diverse portfolio of major building services projects.

  • Acting as Technical Director/Reviewer/Senior Engineer for the design, technical delivery and verification of complex HVAC mechanical engineering building services solutions, ensuring fit-for-purpose outcomes, quality and compliance.

  • Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams across Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, Fire, Structural, Civil and specialist engineering disciplines.

  • Building and maintaining senior client relationships, leading key pursuits and contributing to proposals, reports, technical assessments and strategic client engagement.

  • Guiding projects from concept design through construction and commissioning, while supporting planning, resourcing, risk management, quality assurance and commercial performance.

  • Mentoring and developing engineers through visible leadership, technical coaching, knowledge sharing and training, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

  • Promoting sustainable and innovative engineering solutions that deliver long-term value for clients and communities.

 

What would you bring to the team?

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering, supported by extensive experience in HVAC mechanical building services engineering within a consulting environment.

  • Engineers Australia Chartered Professional Engineer and RPEV status, or eligibility to obtain these in Australia.

  • Proven experience leading the design, delivery and verification of complex building services projects, with strong technical expertise in HVAC, mechanical services systems and integrated building services design.

  • Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and coordinating internal specialists, external stakeholders, contractors and sub-consultants.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian building regulations, standards, codes and compliance requirements.

  • Proven client leadership, business development and work-winning experience, supported by strong commercial, risk management and communication skills.

  • A collaborative, client-focused approach, with the credibility to influence outcomes, mentor others and build high-performing teams.
