Bachelor's degree: Electrical engineering (or equivalent).
Experience: 7-10 years in electrical pre-commissioning for relevant industry projects.
Added advantage
Experience with subsea composite cable installation and pre-commissioning
Exposure to both greenfield and brownfield projects
Knowledge of platform cathodic protection systems
Key responsibilities
Coordinate with construction teams to prioritize system pre-commissioning activities, including MDB, UPS, HVAC, LV/MV/HV systems, grounding systems, lighting and small power systems, and LV cable systems.
Ensure readiness of electrical systems to facilitate instrument and control system commissioning.
Work with various electrical and control systems such as MDB, HVAC, DC UPS (110V, 24V), lighting transformers, phase shift transformers (1000kVA, 2500kVA), LV panels, VSD and VSD step-up transformers, switchgear, junction boxes, cable systems, subsea splitter junction box, PMS/DCS interfaces, and cathodic protection systems.
Initiate and manage pre-commissioning schedules in coordination with client representatives.
Plan and sequence pre-commissioning activities based on project priorities.
Verify installation completion and readiness for energization.
Liaise with instrumentation and mechanical teams to align electrical pre-commissioning with overall system commissioning.
Interface with client representatives to agree on pre-commissioning schedules, priorities, and readiness milestones.
Engage with vendors to ensure timely delivery of equipment, resolve technical queries, and align vendor testing schedules with site priorities.
Work with QC to close out construction check sheets and resolve outstanding issues before handover.
Coordinate with the planning team and provide structured feedback reports for schedule tracking.
Demonstrate sound knowledge of each electrical system and sub-system, aiming for accuracy in planning and execution in collaboration with team and vendors.
Perform switchgear pre-commissioning including CT/VT ratio and polarity checks, insulation resistance, mechanical/electrical function checks, contact resistance, Hipot test, and CB vacuum bottle integrity.
Carry out transformer pre-commissioning including CT tests, insulation resistance, winding resistance, ratio tests, vector group verification, Tan-Delta, SFRA, and functional checks.
Execute HV cable pre-commissioning with resistance checks, insulation resistance, VLF withstand tests, and Tan Delta diagnostics.
Ensure full completion of VSD pre-commissioning onshore, preparing documentation for final commissioning offshore.
Prepare progress and compliance reports as needed.
Troubleshoot electrical equipment issues as required.
Critical note: Effectively manage high work pressure to ensure timely pre-commissioning completion, avoiding delays that could impact marine mobilization.
Requirements & competencies
