Here's what you'll do during a typical day:
Essential functions
Apply polishing paints and coatings to various surfaces throughout the hotel, including floors, walls, and furniture.
Prepare surfaces for polishing by cleaning, sanding, or buffing as needed to ensure optimal adhesion and finish.
Select appropriate polishing paints and coatings based on surface type, usage, and desired appearance.
Use painting and polishing equipment such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, and polishing machines safely and effectively.
Apply polishing paints and coatings evenly and accurately to achieve a smooth and consistent finish.
Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines when handling and applying polishing paints and coatings.
Inspect finished surfaces for quality and touch up any imperfections or inconsistencies as necessary.
Coordinate with other members of the engineering team to schedule and prioritize polishing projects.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper storage and disposal of painting and polishing materials.
Adhere to health and safety regulations while working with painting and polishing chemicals and equipment.
Communicate effectively with engineering supervisors and colleagues regarding project progress and any issues encountered.
Stay updated on new polishing techniques, materials, and equipment to enhance skills and efficiency.
Supportive functions
In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the particular requirements of the company:
Providing input on material selection for optimal results.
Collaborating with other departments for scheduling projects.
Keeping records of materials used and project progress.
Collaborate with carpenters and other maintenance staff to assist in the repair or refurbishment of items before polishing, when necessary.
Supporting colleagues with tasks as needed.
