Job purpose
To deliver consistently excellent psychology teaching that inspires curiosity, develops students’ understanding of human behaviour and psychological theory, and secures strong progress for every student. The postholder will be strategic to the development of psychology across the growing secondary phase and uphold the values, standards and wider vision of GEMS Royal Dubai School.
Skills description
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Plan and deliver consistently excellent, engaging psychology lessons aligned with the relevant examination specification, using strong subject knowledge and effective pedagogy to develop conceptual understanding, critical thinking, research skills and the evaluation of psychological evidence.
Set high expectations for achievement, behaviour and participation, creating a safe, inclusive and purposeful learning environment in which every student can succeed.
Use assessment effectively to adapt teaching, provide meaningful feedback, track progress and implement timely intervention.
Develop psychology curriculum planning, resourcing, assessment and moderation, and preparation for future GCSE and post-16 psychology pathways as the secondary phase grows.
Build strong relationships with students, colleagues and families, working collaboratively and communicating progress clearly.
Contribute actively to the wider life and culture of the school through pastoral responsibilities, enrichment, extra-curricular activities and community events.
Demonstrate a reflective, solution-focused high-performance mindset and engage fully in professional learning, coaching, appraisal and quality assurance.
Promote and safeguard students’ welfare and personal development, following all school policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the role, as directed by the principal.
