Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering with 4-7 years of experience in Rebar processing / steel fabrication, Construction materials QA/QC

Description
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all processed reinforcement steel (cut, bent, and fabricated cages) complies with approved shop drawings, project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. The role ensures dimensional accuracy, bending tolerances, material traceability, and welding quality while supporting continuous process improvement and zero-rework objectives. The objective is to maintain high product quality, minimize rejection/rework, and ensure customer satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesIncoming Material Inspection: Verify mill test certificates (MTCs), Conduct visual inspection of rebars for rust, deformation, and defects, Ensure correct grade (e.g., B500B / ASTM A615 / BS4449), Maintain heat number traceability system.In-Process Quality Control: Verify: Cutting lengths ( tolerance as per standard), Bending angles, Bend radii, Shape conformity with BBS (Bar Bending Schedule) Random dimensional inspections during production. Monitor CNC cut & bend machine calibration. Ensure proper tagging and labeling.Finished Goods Inspection: Approve finished bundles before dispatch. Verify: Quantity, Shape codes, Tag details, Customer/project identification, Ensure proper stacking and handling to avoid deformation.Welding Quality Control (If Cage Fabrication / Robotic Welding): Inspect: Weld penetration, Weld continuity, Visual weld defects, Coordinate third-party weld testing if required, Maintain WPS / PQR documentation.Documentation & Compliance: Monthly Quality performance Index management and prepare the report to management with Dashboard. Responsible for doing all Coordination with other departments for implementing ISO requirements in all functions and projects. Perform Sobha Quality Assessment to identify improvement areas and drive quality enhancement. Conduct Quality Induction programs for new joiners, ensuring seamless onboarding. Responsible for assisting in the reviewing the Monthly MIS and preparing the report for Management. Identify the areas for Digitalization to enable real-time monitoring and reporting. Drive horizontal deployment of best Good Construction Practices and TQM initiatives across projects through structured knowledge sharing. Support internal and external audits.Calibration & Testing: Ensure measuring tools are calibrated Coordinate tensile and bend tests (internal or external labs). Maintain calibration records.Non-Conformance & Root Cause AnalysisCustomer Coordination: Handle customer inspections. Provide documentation during audits. Resolve quality-related customer complaints.
