The successful candidate will provide expert diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of musculoskeletal disorders, injuries, and diseases while delivering patient-centered care in accordance with international best practices and the Department of Health (DOH) Abu Dhabi regulations. The Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon will perform elective and emergency orthopedic procedures, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to clinical excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, teaching, and research initiatives. Key responsibilities Clinical responsibilities Diagnose and manage a broad range of orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including clinical examination and interpretation of diagnostic investigations. Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing both surgical and non-surgical approaches. Perform elective and emergency orthopedic surgical procedures. Provide pre-operative assessment, surgical planning, and post-operative management. Manage orthopedic trauma cases in accordance with hospital protocols. Collaborate with anesthesiologists, radiologists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and clinical case reviews. Surgical responsibilities Perform procedures including, but not limited to: Joint replacement surgery (hip, knee, shoulder) Arthroscopic surgery Sports injury surgery Fracture fixation and trauma surgery Upper limb surgery Lower limb surgery Hand and wrist procedures Foot and ankle surgery Pediatric orthopedic procedures (where appropriately trained) Spine procedures (if fellowship trained and credentialed) Bone and soft tissue procedures Emergency orthopedic surgeries Patient care responsibilities Deliver evidence-based, patient-centered orthopedic care. Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and rehabilitation plans. Obtain informed consent in accordance with hospital policies. Coordinate rehabilitation plans with physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams. Ensure continuity of care throughout the patient's treatment journey. Administrative responsibilities Participate in departmental meetings and hospital committees. Contribute to departmental strategic planning and service development. Support accreditation standards (DOH, JCI, etc.). Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical governance, and UAE healthcare regulations. Participate in the consultant on-call roster.
