Strong written and verbal communication skills, producing concise, senior-ready updates, and excellent Microsoft Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) are necessary. Practical knowledge of Automation Tools such as Alteryx and Tableau is required. German language proficiency is preferred.

As an AML Governance & Oversight Associate, 1st Line of Defense within our Outsourcing, Operations, and Technology organization, you will help coordinate the governance cadence that keeps anti-money laundering actions, regulatory and audit deliverables, and escalation items controlled, evidenced, and closed on time—working closely with first and second line partners across the firm.

 

Job responsibilities

  • Support the AML 1LoD Lead as the business/operations interface to 2LoD/GFCC by coordinating inputs, aligning expectations, and surfacing key decisions, risks, and dependencies for action/escalation.
  • Maintain the single source of truth for AML matters, including the JPMSE AML Areas of Concern and the Issue/Action Register, ensuring clear ownership, target dates, dependencies, and documented closure evidence/status.
  • Identify, triage, and track emerging AML risks/issues (1LoD lens), prepare concise escalation summaries, and monitor escalations through to closure in line with agreed governance.
  • Support the coordination and quality-check regulatory RFIs end-to-end (intake, scoping, stakeholder outreach, drafting coordination, and evidence collation) and produce final response packs for AML 1LoD Lead review and sign-off.
  • Support AML audit activity (internal and external) as the 1LoD engagement support point of contact, including the PwC AML AFS Audit (JPMSE): manage auditor communications, RFI trackers, and walkthrough logistics; coordinate evidence requests/compilation; and drive action tracking to closure to ensure consistent messaging, evidence discipline, and timely stakeholder follow-up.
  • Coordinate the AMLA data questionnaire by managing inputs, challenge/validation, tracking, evidence collation, and final pack preparation for sign-off.
  • Support AML New Product Assessment activities by coordinating required inputs, tracking actions, and preparing evidence/assessment materials for AML 1LoD Lead review.
  • Support regulatory strategy and change monitoring by tracking regulatory change and industry developments impacting JPMSE; maintaining a regulatory change/watch-items tracker (aligned with 2LoD) with actions, owners, and dates; and reporting progress on a regular cadence.
  • Provide programme/project governance support (plans, RAID logs, milestones, governance updates), with particular focus on the EU AML Reform Program for Outsourcing.
  • Run the quarterly BAU cycle for AML Outsourcing Framework maintenance (including the Outsourcing Register) and coordinate regulatory notifications for new outsourcing.

 

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Demonstrable experience operating within a 1LoD control environment, issue management, governance forums, escalation, evidence discipline, and sustainable remediation.
  • Experience in AML and/or wider Financial Crime topics (e.g., AML governance, KYC/CDD, transaction monitoring, sanctions, fraud) and how these translate into business/operations requirements.
  • Experience coordinating responses to regulatory requests and/or audits (RFIs, evidence packs, walkthrough coordination), with strong attention to defensibility and consistency of messaging.
  • Ability to manage data quality in a controlled way (data sourcing understanding, reconciliations/checks, exception tracking, root cause themes, and prevention), ideally for regulatory submissions/questionnaires.
  • Able to influence and drive outcomes across Business, Operations, Technology and 2LoD partners (including GFCC), including confident follow-up and escalation where required.
  • Proven ability to run multiple workstreams concurrently, maintain trackers and governance cadence, and drive actions to closure under tight timelines and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal skills, produces concise, senior-ready updates and materials that are audit/regulator appropriate.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills, Excel ,Power Point and Word.
  • Practical knowledge of Automation Tools such as Alteryx and Tableau
