Requirements
The role requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent and 8 years of experience in an oil and gas environment. Demonstrable knowledge of DCS, PLCs, ESD/F&G Systems, Anti-Surge Control Systems, Metering Systems, Turbine/Compressor Control Systems, and full knowledge of SIL requirements is essential. Proficiency in written and spoken English, strong leadership and people skills, and computer skills in Microsoft Office, SAP, CONVAL, and InstruCal are also required.

Instrument/F&G Engineering SpecialistJob Purpose –Advise and support Instrumentation/Fire & Gas (F&G) Engineering activities during EPC and Startup phase until handover to permanent Asset whilst ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in terms of Safety, Operability, Reliability and Maintainability over the facility design life cycle.Reporting and RelationshipsReportingReports to Head of EngineeringInternalRegular contact with Project Management Team (PMT) and Operations departments.Periodic contact with Engineering & Projects and HSEQ Group.ExternalFrequent contact with Shareholders Subject Matter Experts, EPC contractors, vendors, suppliers, and engineering consultants.Job Context & Major ChallengesAble to effectively influence project decisions based not only on CAPEX but considering OPEX for the project life cycle.Ensures compliance with QG specifications, processes and procedures for the assigned projects.Participate in reviews and provide technical inputs to designs and procedures for the implementation of approved field operations whilst mitigating new technology risks introduced by the project.Financial DimensionAs defined for this job level in the Delegation of Authority and/or approved budget.Generic Accountabilities – All EmployeesSafety, Health & EnvironmentEnsure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health and Environment and Quality policies, regulations and standards.Qatarization ProgramContribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is a condition of employment for expatriate employees.Firewall ComplianceEnsure all activities undertaken comply with anti-trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies and procedures.Key AccountabilitiesProvide a variety of Instrument/F&G engineering supports to contribute to the division strategy and goals, which includes design reviews (e.g., SIL workshops, assessment and verification, HAZOP, etc.), commissioning, startup, failure analysis and advanced troubleshooting.Develop and implement surveillance and administration programs for critical Instrument and F&G Systems of new projects to achieve high standards of Reliability, Availability and Cyber Security.Define and document best practices within the area of expertise and recommend performance improvement initiatives.Develop plans and work schedules to ensure effective completion of tasks and activities, meeting the section and division KPIs.Provide technical input related to area of expertise to other disciplines and functions as required to support overall business objectives.Control and supervise the activities undertaken by contractors, consultants and service providers.Guide less experienced engineers in implementing the company integrity and reliability systems.Support and facilitate smooth completion of project tie-in requirements for all systems under the area of responsibility.Maintain an Issue Register identifying and resolving critical issues, including new technology risks (under area of responsibility), which could impact new project Reliability, Availability and Cyber Security.Support high-risk commissioning activities for high-complexity and large-scale projects by:Undertaking stringent system surveillance.Tuning and optimizing Instrument and F&G systems.Providing advisory support to Operations and Maintenance.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent.Knowledge And/or Experience8 years experience in an oil and gas environment.Demonstrate good working knowledge of:DCSPLCsESD/F&G SystemsAnti-Surge Control SystemsMetering SystemsTurbine/Compressor Control SystemsFull knowledge of SIL requirements.Technical And Business SkillsAble to work and make decisions under highly stressful conditions.Fluent in written and spoken English.Strong leadership and people skills.Computer skills in:Microsoft OfficeSAPCONVALInstruCal
