Role Overview
A leading commodity trading organisation is seeking a Senior Analyst – Shipping Systems & Technology to support and optimise its maritime, logistics, and trading technology landscape. This role will act as the key link between Shipping, Trading, Operations, and IT teams, ensuring critical shipping and logistics applications effectively support front-to-back trading operations.
The successful candidate will combine expertise in shipping operations, business analysis, application management, systems integration, and technology delivery within a complex commodities trading environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the primary SME for shipping and logistics applications, ensuring effective support, maintenance, and continuous improvement of business-critical systems.
Partner with Shipping, Trading, Operations, Finance, and Technology stakeholders to gather requirements, define solutions, and deliver system enhancements.
Manage application support activities including incident management, defect resolution, system configuration, master data management, and user administration.
Coordinate with vendors, system integrators, CTRM/ETRM teams, ERP teams, and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless integration and system performance.
Lead business analysis activities including requirements gathering, process mapping, solution design, functional specifications, and change management.
Manage testing activities including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and production releases.
Develop and maintain operational reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions using SQL and related technologies.
Drive automation, digital transformation, and process optimisation initiatives across shipping and logistics operations.
Requirements:
10+ years' experience in Shipping Systems, Trading Technology, Business Analysis, Application Support, or Commodity Trading environments.
Strong understanding of shipping operations, marine logistics, voyage execution, chartering, post-fixture activities, and physical commodity trading workflows.
Experience supporting shipping platforms and CTRM/ETRM systems such as Endur, Aspect, or similar trading applications.
Proven track record managing system enhancements, integrations, testing, vendor relationships, and application support activities.
Working knowledge of SQL, reporting tools, ERP systems (e.g. SAP), and data management.
Strong stakeholder management, business analysis, project delivery, and problem-solving skills.
Degree qualified in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
