Job DescriptionTo deliver high-quality teaching, learning, training, assessment and tutorial support to learners studying all levels of the department scope of studies (e.g. Nautical/Marine Engineering/Logistics) so as to maximize achievement and continuous improvement. The Sr. Lecturer leads a specific group of courses within the program in terms of updating them. Furthermore, the Sr. Lecturer contributes to consultancy projects.ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities: Teach and assess courses as assigned by the Director – Program and in line with the Academic Catalog and faculty handbook. Provide training/consultancy services whenever required. To coach students at risk as required and deliver tutorials. Develop Academic courses in line with the internal curriculum development and quality assurance processes. Lead specific courses in terms of updating them and seeking their accreditation. Support the Director – Program as required by serving in the committees or taking on Associate roles. Provide academic advice to students. Administer and implement research programs and projects. Maintain course records and prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment plans Pay due attention to the principles of effective learning, learning styles, equality of opportunity, differentiation and support for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities Maintain records of progress and co-ordinate reporting to interested parties Contribute to curriculum development and learning resources Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of developments in maritime courses, including simulators and related educational technologies. Develop and maintain effective industrial links Organize and participate in relevant industrial visits of students as required Attend, contribute to and co-ordinate, where necessary, relevant Academy events, including career and academic guidance, student recruitment activities and school visits, open house events, Sponsors Meetings and Awards Ceremonies Participate, as a team member, in the development of teaching methods and strategies towards an ethos of continuous improvement in teaching and learning. Carry out Quality Assurance and Self-Assessment procedures in line with the Academy's Quality Policy Contribute to other plans and needs. Participate in the Academy's Teaching Observation Scheme Present the Academy in the best light at all times and ensure that all areas of personal activities comply with standards laid down by the Academy and relevant outside agencies and organizations. Update Director – Program on discrepancies/ recommendations to improve course content/ format. Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System (QMS) Carry out all duties with due regard to Health and Safety Regulations Undertake professional development and training to contribute to individual and Academy development as agreed through the Academy Performance Appraisal Scheme process Ensure compliance with the Financial Regulations of the Academy Positively promote equality of opportunity for staff and students Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field.
