Requirements
The Roustabout is responsible for general housekeeping and material handling operations for the drilling rig, including cargo handling, maintenance, and general labor duties. Key tasks involve preparing and maintaining drilling equipment, keeping deck areas clean, moving equipment safely, cleaning and preparing tubulars, performing fire watching, assisting with BOP and wellhead equipment, and general upkeep of rig areas and stores. Operation of the Man-lift (MEWP) requires training and certification. Adherence to safety policies, using the safety observation system, and maintaining equipment in safe condition are crucial.

purpose Of Job:The Roustabout is responsible for carrying out general housekeeping and material handling operations for the drilling rig.Undertakes cargo handling work, maintenance and general labour dutiesArea(s) of Responsibility:For the safety of himself and his fellow workers.Key TasksPrepare drilling equipment prior to its use and maintain it whilst it is in storage.Maintain the drilling and deck areas on the installation in a clean and tidy state.Move drilling equipment and materials to and from the drill floor and around the installation in a safe and proper manner.Cleaning, preparation and handling of tubular around the rig i.e. Drill Collar/Casing on the pipe rack.Perform fire watching duties for the welder where appropriate.Carry out relief duties on Rig Floor when competent to do so.Assist with the installation and removal of BOP, and wellhead equipment.As directed, assist Electricians, Welders and Mechanics in the performance of their duties.Assure that upon completion of assignment or at the end of a work period, all equipment and tools are properly stowed.Carry out general housekeeping duties around rig, on pipe rack, in sack store, pump room, and storage areas; i.e. cleaning and tidying-up of rig areas and stores, washing down rig floor, rig structure and equipment and plant, maintaining paintwork, rust-scraping, priming, high-gloss painting, care of all drilling tools (cleaning, greasing, protecting, proper storing).Prepare tubular for running-in (i.e. removing protectors, washing and greasing tubular threads, measuring and numbering of tubular, assisting in running-in tubular, etc).Offloading and back loading the materials where appropriate.Assist Derrick man and Mud Tester in maintaining the mud system.Prepare for rig skidding, assist in rig skidding, etc.Assist in area inspections.Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.The handover of tasks to back-to-back Roustabouts.Operation of the Man-lift (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) MEWP is subject to training and certification.SafetyFamiliarize themselves with the Group Safety Policy and to take all reasonable care to ensure the health and safety of themselves and persons likely to be affected by their acts or omissions, as required under the Health & Safety at Work.Make use of the relevant Safety Observation System e.g. STOP, PTW and take immediate action to contain, eliminate or guard against actual and potential hazards to health, plant, equipment and the environment, which come to their attention during the course of their work.Ensure that all equipment under their control complies with statutory requirements and is maintained at all times in a safe condition or is otherwise completely withdrawn from service.Assist with good housekeeping practices throughout the drilling package.In the event of an incident/accident, ensure all steps are taken to make the area secure for investigation and inform the Senior KCA DEUTAG Representative immediately.Bring to the immediate notice of their supervisor, actual and potential hazards to safety, health, plant and equipment, which come to their attention in the course of their work.Properly use and care for personal protective equipment.Attend safety meetings, emergency and safety drills as required.Client, Permit to Work System and other site specific, Safety and Procedures Manuals.Carry out planned safety inspections when required.
