Key responsibilities Teaching & learning Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging chemistry lessons in line with the British curriculum (e.g., GCSE and A-Level specifications such as AQA, Edexcel, or Cambridge). Teach students across KS3, KS4, and KS5, ensuring progression and continuity. Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities. Integrate practical experiments and laboratory work safely and effectively. Assessment & progress Assess, record, and report on student progress in accordance with school policies. Prepare students for external examinations (GCSE & A-Level). Provide constructive feedback and targeted support to help students improve. Track student performance data and implement intervention strategies where needed. Classroom & laboratory management Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating learning environment. Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the laboratory. Manage classroom behavior effectively in line with school policies. Curriculum development Contribute to the development and review of the chemistry curriculum. Stay updated with changes in exam board specifications and educational practices. Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and resources. Pastoral responsibilities Act as a form tutor (if required), supporting students’ academic and personal development. Promote student well-being and positive behavior. Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and concerns.
