Key Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with medical, surgical, traumatic, and pediatric emergencies.
Lead advanced resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill and injured patients.
Perform emergency procedures, including endotracheal intubation, advanced airway management, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, chest tube insertion, procedural sedation, and cardioversion.
Manage trauma activations, cardiac arrests, stroke alerts, sepsis cases, and other life-threatening emergencies.
Interpret ECGs, laboratory investigations, bedside ultrasound (POCUS), and radiological findings to facilitate timely clinical decisions.
Coordinate admissions, referrals, and transfers with specialty teams.
Supervise specialist emergency physicians, residents, and emergency department staff.
Participate in multidisciplinary clinical meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education (CME).
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and electronic medical records.
Ensure compliance with DHA regulations, hospital policies, patient safety standards, and international emergency medicine guidelines.
Participate in rotating shifts, weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties as required.
Requirements
MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
MD, DNB, FRCEM, MRCEM, FACEM, American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM), Arab Board, or equivalent recognized qualification in emergency medicine.
Valid DHA license or DHA eligibility is mandatory.
Minimum 8–10 years of post-specialization experience, including experience at consultant level in a busy tertiary care emergency department.
Current ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications are highly preferred.
Strong expertise in trauma management, emergency critical care, point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), and advanced life support.
Excellent leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
Ability to make rapid clinical decisions in high-pressure emergency situations.
