Location: Madinaty, Cairo Employment Type: Contract-Based / Full time Project: Mixed-use High-rise / Residence / Office / Hotel / Entertainment / Intrastructure Project Type & Scope: PM/CM OverviewThe Facade Design Manager will oversee the facade design process from concept development through detailed design and shop drawing review, ensuring that architectural intent is achieved while maintaining technical feasibility and constructability. The role will be responsible for verifying that all facade systems comply with applicable international standards, local building codes, energy efficiency requirements, and project specifications. The Facade Design Manager will coordinate technical interfaces among architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and facade contractors to identify and resolve design conflicts, ensuring seamless integration across disciplines. In addition, the role will lead the material review and approval process and oversee facade performance testing, including mock-ups and performance mock-up unit (PMU) testing, to validate the performance, durability, and quality of glass, aluminum, stone, and other cladding systems throughout the project lifecycle.Responsibilities• Technical Review: Conduct rigorous review and approval of facade-related drawings, calculations, specifications, and Building Maintenance Unit (BMU) designs.• Value Engineering: Propose alternative facade systems and cost-saving measures without compromising performance or quality.• Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate potential technical risks such as water leakage, structural failures, thermal bridging, and air infiltration.• Site Inspection & QA/QC: Oversee on-site installation to ensure adherence to approved drawings and maintain high-quality workmanship.• Testing Oversight: Witness and analyze Performance Mock-up (PMU) tests and on-site water testing to validate system integrity.• Contractor Management: Evaluate the technical capabilities of facade subcontractors and monitor their progress and deliverables.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Facade Engineering, Structural/Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.• Minimum 15+ years of demonstrable experience in facade design and construction management, with a proven track record in large-scale complex projects.• Deep understanding of various facade systems (Unitized Curtain Wall, Point-supported, GRC, etc.).• Proficiency in CAD/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino) and facade structural analysis tools.• Strong knowledge of modern insulation, fire safety standards, and sustainability (LEED/BREEAM).• Soft Skills: Excellent leadership, decision-making, and communication skills to coordinate between diverse technical teams and clients.Preferred• Tier 1 Background: Experience and background in a Tier 1 Construction company or international PMC.• Project Portfolio: * Experience in High-rise building construction (more than 100m or 33 floors).• Experience in Luxury residence, Office building, or 5-star Hotel interior/exterior work (5 years or 3 projects).• Regional Exposure: Exposure to Egyptian or Middle East regulatory environments and local codes.• Language: Professional English proficiency is a must for reporting and technical coordination.
