Are you an experienced logistics professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for operational excellence? At DP World, we are looking for an Operations Area Manager to oversee logistics operations in Debrecen and ensure safe, efficient and high-quality service delivery for our customer.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations across your area, coordinating teams, monitoring performance and continuously improving processes.
What will you do?
- Lead and coordinate daily logistics operations within your assigned area, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted material flow.
- Manage and support operational teams, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance and ensuring work is carried out according to defined procedures.
- Monitor staffing needs, including workforce planning, holidays and replacement coverage.
- Ensure operational processes are followed, controlled and continuously improved, identifying opportunities for optimisation and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Oversee inventory movements and ensure accurate and efficient logistics processes.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental standards, including DP World and customer requirements.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits, quality inspections and customer workshops.
- Maintain strong communication across teams and departments, ensuring that operational information, priorities and issues are effectively communicated.
- Act as a key point of contact for the customer, supporting regular communication, providing information and responding to customer needs.
- Coordinate internal training activities and ensure employees are properly informed about relevant procedures and requirements.
- Monitor operational documentation and performance reporting, providing the necessary data and reports to management and the customer.
- Promote and maintain 5S standards across the assigned area, ensuring an organised, clean and efficient workplace.
- Work closely with other departments and planning teams to implement corrective actions and achieve operational targets.
What are we looking for?
- Logistics experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing, automotive or similar operational environment.
- Previous leadership/people management experience in a comparable operational role.
- At least a vocational qualification.
- Category B driving licence.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Good English or German language skills would be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of operational processes and a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate different stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to challenge existing processes and suggest improvements.
- Strong sense of responsibility, reliability and commitment.
- Customer-oriented approach and the ability to understand and respond to customer expectations.
