Working in collaboration with Emirates Nature–WWF and government partners, the successful candidate will lead the spatial ecology, habitat mapping, and environmental data integration components of a major applied research initiative that will directly inform fisheries management, marine conservation, and habitat restoration across the UAE. The successful candidate will lead the spatial ecology and habitat mapping components of the project by integrating environmental monitoring data, fisheries information, habitat datasets, and field observations to identify the ecological drivers of productive fishing grounds. Responsibilities include developing habitat characterization workflows using combinations of bathymetric datasets, side-scan sonar, remotely sensed imagery, GIS, and other spatial datasets to produce habitat maps, ecological indicators, habitat suitability assessments, and spatial decision-support products. The post-doctoral associate will collaborate closely with project staff to design field campaigns, develop sampling strategies, participate in marine field surveys, and ensure the effective integration of environmental, biological, and spatial datasets. The successful candidate will establish robust data management and quality assurance workflows while preparing scientific manuscripts, technical reports, maps, visualizations, and presentations for project partners and government stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include engaging with Emirates Nature–WWF, government agencies, and other stakeholders to communicate research findings and support the translation of science into management and policy outcomes. The successful candidate will also contribute to the broader research activities of Mubadala ACCESS through mentoring junior researchers and students, participating in proposal development, and contributing to peer-reviewed publications.
